Dried flowers of chamomile plant (Matricaria chamomilla L.) are largely used to provide sedative as well as spasmolytic effects. Chamomile is a very popular tea. Animal model studies indicate potent antiinflammatory action, some antimutagenic and cholesterol-lowering activities, as well as antispasmotic and anxiolytic effects. However, human studies are limited.
